Genesis 8:1-22

Good Morning...Welcome back. Today we read Genesis 8:1-22 We learned that Noah was on the ark for quite a while. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and the water started decreasing after 150 days. We also learned that the ark rested on the mountains of Ararat.

We learned that by the 10th month the tops of the mountains became visible. Noah sent out a raven that flew here and there but showed him that it was not dry enough yet. Noah then sent out a dove...but the dove could find no resting place so she returned. We learned that Noah waited 7 more days and sent out the dove again...and in the evening she returned with an olive branch in it's beak...Noah waited another 7 days and sent out the dove again. She did not return.

Noah removed the covering and the earth was dried up. We learned then that the Lord spoke to Noah...Be fruitful and multiply. When Noah and his family and the animals came out Noah built unto the Lord an altar and gave burnt offerings to the Lord.

21The LORD smelled the soothing aroma; and the LORD said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.

22"While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease."

I find it interesting that the dove brought back an olive branch...As we go along we learn that there are many verses repeated and many references to "blood sacrifices" and "offerings" etc...It is by no mistake that things are repeated and we should sit up and take notice when we notice a pattern. Noah was in that ark with his family for about a year...can you only imagine that?

Thank you for reading the Lord's word with me again today...Please join me in reading Genesis 9:1-29
