Genesis 14:1-24

What a beautiful fall day it is today...Welcome back. Today we read through Genesis 14:1-24.

Now today we learned about the "war of the kings" which is exactally as it sounds...there were many kings (we read about all of them) and they were at war with each other...they took each other's land and possessions as they passed through the various areas...

10Now the valley of Siddim was full of tar pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and they fell into them But those who survived fled to the hill country.
11Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food supply, and departed.
12They also took Lot, Abram's nephew, and his possessions and departed, for he was living in Sodom.

We learned that a fugitive came and told Abram that Lot was taken and he sent out his trained men to go and retrieve him. They did this at night and won. They not only brought back Lot but all his possessions and his women and his people.

After this the king of Sadom came to meet with Abram. Abram was praised(just as the Lord had promised him)

19He blessed him and said,
"Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth;
20And blessed be God Most High,
Who has delivered your enemies into your hand."
He gave him a tenth of all.

The king said to Abram...leave the people with me and take the goods for yourself...he told him no, he did not want him to say he is the one who gave him his riches. He took nothing but what he and his man had eaten.

Through today's reading we are begining to see that the Lord is bringing to pass what he said he would. We are also begining to see that Abram's trust in the Lord is keeping him safe. As Abram continues to trust in the Lord his riches are multiplying...

Tomorrow we read Genesis 15:1-21...See you then, have a great day.
