Genesis 20:1-18

Good morning...today we read Genesis 20:1-18.

Sound familiar? This story was started earlier...for Sarah had been taken by the king into his house hold as his wife when Abraham said she was his sister...Didn't he do this once before...or is this a repeat story?

The king did not lie with Sarah...and the Lord appeared to him in a dream...and told him that Sarah was Abraham's wife...

We learned that when he went to Abraham and asked him about it Abraham's response was simply...I did this because I thought there were no more fear of God left in this place...

15Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you; settle wherever you please."
16To Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is your vindication before all who are with you, and before all men you are cleared."
17Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maids, so that they bore children.
18For the LORD had closed fast all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.

So the Lord's promises were true...Goodness had gone with Abraham into the nations...he has brought with him healing. I have looked at this and looked at this verse today because when the Lord repeats something there is something to learn. This story was repeated...Today I can see that the Lord goes ahead of Abraham...he does allow things to happen...but for a purpose.

Please join with me in tomorrow's reading Genesis 21:1-34
