Genesis 29:1-35

Hello and a good day to you...I hope your weekend was a good one. Today we read Genesis 29:1-35.

Today we learned that Jacob had met up with his mother's brother's shepherds watering their sheep and met his daughter Rachael. She took him to her father and he stayed there for a month. At the end of that time he asked if he could pay Jacob for all his work he had done for him...He said that he was in Love with his daughter Rachael. He made a deal with her father to work for 7 years and in return he would get to marry Rachael. Her father agreed.

At the end of the 7 years of labor he returned for her. There was a wedding feast and he laid with her but when he awoke it wasn't her it was her older sister Leah...when he asked why he had done this to him he answered that the older sister must not be married after the younger. He asked then to stay with Leah for a week and then he could marry Rachael and work for another 7 years as payment.. He did. and He loved Rachael much more than Leah.

31 When the LORD saw that Leah was not loved, he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren. 32 Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, "It is because the LORD has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now."

33 She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "Because the LORD heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too." So she named him Simeon.

she conceived one more time and bore him another son and named him Judah and she praised the Lord. She then stopped having children.

Ohhhh poor Leah. Can you imagine being the one that he did not Love? She truly praised the Lord for having children when her sister could not. Oh what sibling revelry that must have been.

Please join me tomorrow as we read Genesis 30:1-43
